NALED

NaledThe National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) began as an initiative launched by the Municipal Economic Growth Activity (MEGA) program, the project funded by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by The Urban Institute.

NALED was officially inaugurated on March 6, 2006, by President Tadic and the US Ambassador to Serbia, Michael C. Polt, who signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Mayors of ten Serbian municipalities selected to participate in the first phase of MEGA Project.
As of January 2008, NALED has become self-sustainable and moved from MEGA office to its own premises in Zetska 4a, transitioning into a fully independent organization.
The primary mission of NALED is to facilitate a dialogue between local and central government, institutions and the private sector and thus create enabling environment for the growth of business community in Serbia, increased investments and enhanced economic development.
By means of various and original public lobbying Alliance is consistently committed to reaching high standards reflected in democratization of the public life and rule of law, as a basis for open and sound society.
NALED has become a solid partner in this important work on gradual modernization and normalization of the state, economic and social systems of Serbia.
