The mission of the Nis Investment Forum continues. What was an initiative and attempt to present southern Serbia has now developed into a permanent activity. In 2009, we shal conduct the second annual conference under the working title of "Preparing the future - today's challenge for tomorrow's profits"
The organizers of this conference, which will be held on 9th October 2009 in Nis, are the Niški Investment Forum and the City of Nis, which also financially supports the realizing of this year’s Conference.
Niški Investment Forum is designed as a permanent activity of the promotion of good business opportunities in the region of Serbia. This year’s event is the most important economic meeting of international business event in the year 2009, which will bring together over 200 delegates from the world of domestic and international business, diplomatic community, the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as regional and local authorities of South-Eastern Serbia.
By realizing Niš Investment Forum - NIF08 in October 2008 thanks to the donation provided by DIN „Fabrika duvana" a.d. Niš, an affiliate of Philip Morris International, we showed that the regional character of the event can have a major impact and media attention at the national, and international level (see video clip). Participants in these conferences, among others, were: Mr. Božidar Đelić (Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia), Mr. Mlađan Dinkić (Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia), Mr. Gustavo Navaro (member of Board of Directors Council of foreign investors and Director of Holcim and ), Mr. Skip Burnhiter (Vice President of the Board of American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia and director of Philip Morris International for the region of South-Eastern Europe), as well as the mayors of 10 municipalities of the Nišava, Pirot and Toplicaa districts.
This year the theme NIF09 transport and tourism, which will be reviewed through public hearings, presentations and round tables. Their participation in the conference will be representatives of the Serbian Government, regional and local authorities, as well as representatives of international financial and business organizations, and institutions.
In addition, NIF09 will have the same activities and organizing meetings and presentations for invited investors from the country and abroad, which is also the opportunity to get acquainted with business opportunities and infrastructure projects in the area of these three districts. For the purposes of these activities will be provided specially designed space – Meeting Zone.
Based on the experience of last year, we expect more than 200 delegates from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, district and local authorities, international and domestic business and diplomatic communities, all with adequate presence and monitoring of the media at the regional and national level. Undiscovered investment opportunities in Serbia are the largest in the area of southern Serbia where a few multinational companies (Philip Morris, Michelin, Merkator, Messer) successfully working for several years and where the new international companies coming (Eyemaxx / Chaytan Capital, Leoni, Mr Brikolage, Sagem etc. ), which provides a good illustration about the investment potentials that exist in this region.
Its presence is now confirmed to the French Ambassador in Serbia, His Excellency Jean-François Terral, Ambassador of Bulgaria in Serbia, His Excellency Georgi Dimitrov, Ambassador of Austria in Serbia, His Excellency Klemenz Koja, Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Ms. Hildegard Gacek. In the notification the Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Milutin Mrkonjic, Minister of Economy and balanced regional development, Mr. Mlađan Dinkić, representatives of other foreign diplomatic and economic Offices whose details can be found in the attached summary.
